Currents of Progress
Once we found the Mobile Marine Electrical things started moving. In fact, now we are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel for electrical work. They have been great, in fact even coming out here on a Saturday to make sure that we had a solid battery charging system. While they have done a lot Continue reading

Silver Springs State Park — Ocala Florida
Before Walt Disney World was an attraction in Florida, the place to go to was Silver Springs State Park. Near Ocala and at the head of the Silver River, it’s a really a cool place to visit. We had some friends recommend it, so we took a day off of boat projects and drove down there. The Continue reading

Progress!
I’ve been writing a about our difficulties. Lightning strikes, no power, stuck at a dock. I was beginning to think my blog about sailing was going to be about boat repair and that was it. I am happy to write this time, though that we are making headway! We are beginning to think about weather windows, not quite there, Continue reading

Merritt Island
Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge We did take a day and a night over Christmas to get away from the boat. Getting away from all of the work was good for all of us. We watched the Space X Falcon Heavy launch. On the way back, we found a great gem called Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. It Continue reading

Boat repairs…again

Last time I wrote, I shared with you the rotten bulkhead. Some Lagoons are known for bulkhead issues, but I’ve never heard that the 410 had bulkhead issues. Having said that, once we got into it, it was clear that the issue was going on for some time and it’s a hard one to diagnose without ripping Continue reading

Rotten Bulkhead!
There is still a lot about the summer that I want to share with you. Traveling through the national parks in the west was truly awe inspiring and as I look back now, I want to go back through more of the parks and spend more time at some of the parks. Like I said before, it Continue reading

Living in a house vs. a boat
So, as I said last week, we’ve really only experienced docklife and not boatlife. But I was thinking about it and we are still in a position to be able to see some real differences between this and our life in a house. Sure, there’s a lot that includes not having full time jobs anymore, but really Continue reading

Living on a sailboat, Is it worth it?
It’s hard to say right now if it’s worth the sacrifices living on a sailboat. But the truth is, we really haven’t experienced boatlife yet. We’ve experienced dock life. And there is a difference. Boatlife and docklife are always going to encompass work. Your engines will break down. Hoses need to be replaced. Decks need cleaning. Dishes need washing. Sails need mending. Take your pick, Continue reading

Lightning!
I’ve heard, mostly on TV or social media, people who were near lightning strikes say that the hair on the back of their neck stood up. Or one guy told me his friend’s hair was sticking straight up right before lightning struck nearby. I’ve never experienced that. Of course, I don’t know if I’ve ever Continue reading

Start of Boatlife
People always said that cruising on a boat is simply fixing a boat in exotic places…I’m ready for the exotic places to begin. In early August I flew down to Florida to begin preparations for the boat to go in the water. Then at the end of that week, One Life would go in the Continue reading
